Refund policy

We want families to pay for EverElder only if it genuinely helps them. This policy explains when you can get your money back, how to ask, and how long it takes. It works alongside our Subscription policy, which covers billing and cancellation.

1.14-day refund on your first payment

If EverElder is not right for your family, we will refund your first subscription payment in full — no questions you have to justify, no partial deductions — as long as you ask within 14 days of that first charge.

This applies to your workspace’s first paid subscription on any plan, whether monthly or annual, and whether or not it began with a free trial.

2.How to request a refund

Email support@everelder.org from the email address on the workspace owner’s account. Include:

  • the workspace name;
  • the approximate date of the charge;
  • optionally, a sentence about why — it is not required for the refund, but it helps us make EverElder better.

Only the workspace owner (or an administrator the owner has authorized) can request a refund, because refunds affect the whole workspace’s subscription.

3.How and when refunds are paid

Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method and typically appear within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank or card issuer. We cannot redirect a refund to a different card or account.

We will confirm by email when the refund has been issued. If it has not appeared after 10 business days, contact us and we will trace it with the payment processor.

4.Refunds on renewal payments

Renewal charges (any payment after your first) are refundable within 7 days of the charge, provided the workspace has had no meaningful usage in the new billing period. In plain terms, “no meaningful usage” means nobody in the workspace has actively used the service since the renewal — no tasks created or completed, no updates or comments posted, no documents uploaded, no events or expenses added.

Simply signing in to export your data or to cancel does not count as meaningful usage — you will not lose a renewal refund by retrieving your own information.

The easiest way to avoid an unwanted renewal is to cancel before the renewal date; we send a reminder email before annual renewals and before a trial converts to a paid subscription (see the Subscription policy).

5.Annual plans

Annual plans follow the same rules: a full refund within 14 days of the first payment, and a full refund within 7 days of a renewal with no meaningful usage.

Prorated exception. Because a year is a long commitment, we make one additional exception for annual plans: if a significant change in your family’s circumstances means the workspace is no longer needed partway through an annual term, contact us — we may, at our discretion, refund the unused full months remaining on the plan. We handle these requests with care and without asking for documentation of personal circumstances.

6.Cancellation is not the same as a refund

These two actions are often confused:

  • Cancelling stops future charges. Your workspace stays fully available until the end of the period you have already paid for. Cancel any time in Settings → Billing.
  • A refund returns money you have already paid, under the rules on this page. A refund also ends the refunded subscription period immediately.

Cancelling does not automatically request a refund, and requesting a refund is not required to cancel.

7.What this policy does not cover

  • Charges older than the windows above, except where consumer law in your country provides longer rights — those rights always take precedence over this policy.
  • Payments made through a third party or reseller rather than directly to us — refunds for those follow the third party’s terms.
  • Bank fees, foreign-exchange differences, or interest — we refund the amount we charged, in the currency we charged it.

8.Fair use of this policy

This policy exists so that trying EverElder is risk-free, not to enable free recurring use. We may decline refunds where we see a pattern of abuse — for example, repeatedly subscribing, using the service heavily, and requesting refunds, or creating new accounts to claim the first-payment guarantee more than once for the same family. We will always tell you the reason if we decline a request, and genuine cases are never treated with suspicion.

9.Questions

Unsure whether your situation qualifies? Ask before assuming it does not: support@everelder.org. We read every message, and a person — not an automated rule — makes the final call on edge cases.
